Back to the ole' grindstone

After having been laid up with a badly sprained knee for the last two weeks it's back to the ole' grind at work. The knee is healing nicely and it won't be long before I can get back out in the boat shed and get some real work done. Young Andrew was over on Saturday to help patch up the roof of the boat shed. In hindsight the shrink wrap plastic maybe wasn't the best choice to cover a bow shed. Oh well, we'll deal with it as necessary.

Keeping my eye on the US/Cdn currency exchange rates. They've been moving around quite a bit lately. Gone may be the days of a higher Cdn dollar vs the US. *sigh* I've got a fairly big order of epoxy to get so keeping an eye on the rates can save quite a bit of moolah!

Standby....

Now I've gone and done it!

On crutches for a couple of weeks. Slipped and fell going down the stairs and tore up my quad muscle on my right leg. Doh! That'll put a severe crimp in the ole boat building project.

Mimic Panels

As some of you know I like gizmo's. I especially like making my own gizmo's (see earlier on elec dist panel). I don't do it for economic reasons but more to just keep my hands busy in the loooong coooold Canadian winters!

So my next project is a Mimic Panel that'll show me what major pieces of equipment are online and working.

I apologize for the crappy picture. All I could get was a screencap from FrontPanel Express software.

What I've got on the panel so far are:

Nav Lights (P&S, aft white, masthead white)
Anchor Light
Aft Bilge Pump
Fwd Bilge Pump
Crash Pump (1 Amber & 1 Red)
Diesel Heater
H/W Heater
F/W Circ Pump
E/R Blower
A/C Circ Pump
Bow Thruster (1 Amber & 1 Green)
Windlass

Some of them have two LED's, Amber for Energized and Green for operating. There'll be only 1 Red LED and that's for the crash pump in operation.

I was thinking adding a switch to turn off all the LED's. Am I missing anything else?
